Pigmenting the skin with injections of Afamelanotide (Melanotan) (Scenesse)

  • Indications:
  1. Photodermatoses
  2. Could be used as a “lifestyle” drug to darken (tan) the skin.

 

 

  • Afamelanotide (Melanotan) (Scenesse):
  1. induces melanin deposition (Alpha MSH (Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone) analogue)
  2. is given subcutaneously in two injections of 20mg 60 days apart.

 

 

  1. Its effect is independent from UV (Ultraviolet) light exposure or dosage
  2. It increases tolerance to artificial light
