Neuromodulators and the Skin (Chapter 1)

The Nervous system and the Skin share a common past. They develop from the same embryological tissue – that means that they were once part of a same cell and then developed together as the ectoblast.

On day 21 following conception, they separate into the ectoderm and neurectoderm.
-The brain will remain physically intricately connected to the Skin through nerves.
-Chemically, substances called neuromediators communicate between nerve endings and the skin. Some mediators are identical in the Brain and the Skin.

The following chapter contains:
-the signalling molecules between the Nervous System and the Skin.
-the 3 anatomical subdivisions of the brain.
