Presentation (Chapter 4: Psoriasis)

-There have been great advances in the understanding of the cause of psoriasis which have led to effective treatments (topical or systemic), sometimes spectacular.

-Despite this, treatments remain only symptomatic and the lesions come back once the treatment is stopped.

-Quite the like of antidepressants to alleviate symptoms, treatments can be seen as a way to temporarily reduce or make the plaques, redness and scales disappear. Either it is enough as in 2 thirds of cases or there could be additional approaches.

This section  covers:
-a short summary of where we stand in terms of treatment
psychological factors in individuals with psoriasis, and how they differ from those in Atopic Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)
-The indications when psychoanalysis is indicated.
